BEfore i further this, im a 2x year old, who still fancy's the little things about rumble fighter, i have a full time job in my career field, managing a small company, getting paid 31$ CAD an hour, so i'd just like it to be clear that spending a wad of cash on this game is nothing to me, i make enough to afford luxury and vices.

The reason why im posting this thread, is because ive noticed a really terribly bad business practice about this game, ive played the game since late 2007, I've been on and off because im trying to make something out of my self in the real world. My in-game name is Ryutetsu, i stay away from the scene because i dislike the drama and just wanna hop in and hop out once in a while.

The topic of this thread is "Boxes", and how the hosts of rumble fighter (and several other MMO) take advantage of the younger audience (which are the majority of this community) with subtle gambling promoting business practices. I'm mostly concern because of the effect this practice can have on the younger players, and i know i'd probably be questioned "who cares", or "why do you care?", i care because...outside of this game, i actually want to see people succeed financially and not let subtle marketing practices like this ruin their life financially.

Yesterday morning, around 4 am canadian time, i woke up getting ready for work; did my daily morning routine which is checking email, maybe play a few rounds of rumble fighter and get on the road. Then i noticed a new box was in the store, so i thought to my self; "hm, a new scroll and two exocores, thats actually really good what they're giving to the community", i bought about 50 dollars worth of R or redfox credit, which is 66 dollars CAD, (im honestly not bragging, to me that's pocket change, i spend that easily on a Friday night at the bar with the guys, but you also have to realize that 66 dollars can get you a lot of productive things). I bought about 11 boxes with it, the first 5 boxes i got some permanent top and sandal, the second batch of 5 i got timed items including the scroll.

Now my initial thought after was; "aw poop no perm? okay let me buy more", and that's where it hit me, this box...this box that promises me a chance of getting something really cool, could very much be the box that might ruin another player's life because they just want to get that cool item. Now perhaps that's a little to the extreme, but think about it. 5 batch of boxes fail, then you think okay maybe more, then another fail, then more, then repeat. Before you know it, you've spent 300-500 bucks trying to get vanity...

A lot of the younger audience and even some adults dont realize that this is literally how gambling addicts start out, (although for the most part its genetics too) it starts out subtle, then elevates to larger scale gambling. Theres probably players out there that have already forked up 500 dollars just to get that scroll and exocore. This game isnt even competitive in a marketable way...that's that unfortunate part, this isnt counter strike go, this isn't dota, this isnt a game you can market your achievement on..i spent the last couple of years, just collecting these rare scrolls, and ive come to realize even i have fallen victim to this. As i grew older, my time and tolerance for this game grew smaller and smaller, at the initial stage my thought was "perhaps i could sell my account, perhaps i could brag with this account, perhaps this can fill a void of accomplishment some how" but it did...temporarily, that's when i realized i've probably spent close to 4000 dollars overall within the span of 9 years.

Im sharing this concern because, i like to think i know better and im trying to do better by at-least attempting to raise an awareness, i am making a solid oath to stop purchasing boxes in general, hopefully with time they can at least figure out a different tactic to get the community engaged and to keep the game flourishing without subconsciously pushing gambling down the community's throat, i would've communicated this with the mass regardless of whether or not i eventually get the rare item.

TLDR : Say no to boxed items, gambling is bad it ruins lives.

Boxes are fine. I mean its not like this is a non-profit organization or anything. This game wouldn't even be playable if half of the **** they boxed was easily up for grabs. And they've probably played a major part in keeping this game up & running for so long too. The prices are REALLY over the top though and it sickens me. On other MMOs with higher playerbases, the boxes tend to be more affordable because they have a moderate or large percentage of their community buying them. Like on W101 they cost like $1-2 and the purchase of one gives you about 8 tries at a perm. Here, its like they're trying to get one person to pay and account for 3 people.

Players who bother with boxes know what they're getting themselves into. And no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. If you have an impulse to buy every box Nimonix throws out just because they sprinkled some glitter on it, making it flashy and easier to kill enemies with, you're either 1) a naive little **** who lacks discipline and needs to take accountability for that or 2) Donald Trump in rl and have enough money to recklessly spend on your vices without any real consequences. From what I've seen, minors can't even afford rc. Most of them try their luck at trades or spend whatever minimal amount of chump change their parents throw at them on this shitty lovely game. If parents aren't monitoring what their kids do what their cash then tough ****. Frugal/smart players also trade for rc but thats another story. I can go on and on about this but 99% of this community can't even read 3 sentences without having a mental breakdown so basically...

    TL;DR TL;DR TL;DR TL;DR
BUSINESSES ARE CREATED TO MAKE A PROFIT. IF UR A SUCKER FOR VIRTUAL FLASHY OP POOP, OWN IT. PARENTS, IF YOU'RE HANDING UR KIDS MONEY AND NOT MONITORING THEM, (PARENT AND CHILD), OWN IT. TEENS 16-18+: IF YOU'RE WORKING FROM 9 TO 5 AND SPENDING UR ENTIRE CHECK ON PIXEL DUST, OWN IT. BUSINESSES SHOULD NOT AND WILL NOT PUT A SYSTEM IN PLACE THAT REDUCES THEIR INCOME BC
THEY'RE A BUSINESS. THEY EXIST TO MAKE MONEY NOT PAMPER PPL WITH LOW DISCIPLINE OR KIDS WITH A FETISH FOR GLITTER WHO AREN'T BEING MONITORED BY THEIR PARENTS. Game can't even stay on a host for 2 mins now. Don't buy what you know you can't afford, esp on a cancerous, unstable game with a minuscule playerbase.

You're right that business is business, but ethical business is different than what rumble fighter is being ran under.
One thing i do appreciate redfox doing is giving 0 tolerance to trading currency in game, while that helps lower scams.
It also brings money to their pocket, eveyrone's forced to buy RC or atleast find legitimate traders. I believe theres a huge difference in running a business, and running an ethical business. Theres successful games with low content that do it without promoting gambling. Im completely find with them milking updates and content for money, but when it comes to milking content to an extent that it could trigger something very negative in their consumer base...thats basically what happened to tobacco and whats happening to with cigarettes. It kills you, but they sell it regardless, it took a movement for the companies to realise that they have to warn players of the consequences of what smoking does to you. Maybe someone has to sue the company first before they realise how bad of a practice it is. (Again that may be extreme, but this IS a business, you might not take it serious, but there are victims that have ruin their lives based on these kinds of marketing.)

If 4000 over 9 years is small, then that's exactly my point.

Thank you, i like to tackle giants and at least try and spark some kind of change. I don't mind them milking the content for money, but when it becomes gambling i think its sickening and really damaging, i'm most likely sure they're aware of it as well, that's why this game's moved from host to hosts, the tactic can only work for so long. The way i see it, i might be able to control my self...but not everyone has self control, not everyone can think properly for them selves, im not saying im better than them nor am i saying those that do have self control are better, im just trying to help by voicing my opinion.

Don't get me wrong. I hate boxes as much as the next guy. But if someone is in a financial situation where buying a few boxes would ruin their lives (which is pretty extreme) then they're stupid for buying them in the first place. Its not hard to not give a company your credit card information. Unethical to me is like a child stealing his parents cred card, spending hundreds/thousands on a game, and a company doing everything they can to prevent the parents from recovering the cash. That can ruin lives. I know big name companies that own games like w101 & allow you to save ur card information have pulled **** like that many times and have gotten away with it but when it comes to this game the hosts are always small league companies no one has ever heard of so if a circumstance like that were to happen, I highly doubt it'd be too difficult to get the cash back. Its not like they can afford an ss tier legal team but they might try to pull something with their terms and conditions. Kids games in the app store with in game purchases is another exception I guess. But everyone else should be accountable for their own actions.

This is the current trend of game marketing nowadays. League of Legends with their Hextech chests, Overwatch with their Loot boxes, Hearthstone with their card packs, CSGO with their Crates. Blade and Soul has something like this too, and I assume Black Desert has it as well.

I think this strategy of marketing is very clever though, because it creates very invested players. In order for someone to spend that much money for a game, they need to know for sure that they are going to stay in that game for a long time. And if someone wins something very desirable, such as a rare drop from an RNG box, they will praise the RNG boxes, thus creating a bigger temptation for them in the future.

Rare items are hyped in order for these RNG boxes to really work on the community. One way to make them rare is to make them RNG exclusive, which means that only those with money can have this. Once people know it's exclusive, the RNG boxes are then passed out for free, so some of the lucky people will advertise the rare to others. And what's clever about giving free rares out is that the people who actually win those, without spending money, are likely to stay in the game, knowing that having a rare puts them at a very prestigious level of wealth; to quit the game at such level of prestige, would mean throwing away something that everyone wants, which is often seen as a foolish move.

The RNG boxes themselves usually contain content that people might've ignored, and if they get it, it would encourage them to make use of what they get. So it's an alternate way of getting the player to explore deeper into the game.

Gambling is made to be a personal choice, so it's another way of saying, "Well you wanted to do it, so this is what you get."

Are we in control of our actions?

It is one of the questions that can make or break a gambler

Its a really ingenious marketing ploy and its not going anywhere because it works. This is exactly what I was saying (but with more caps, swearing, poop and glitter) and exactly why I feel like we can't blame the developers because it at the end of the day it all comes down to self discipline. But like I said there are a few exceptions usually involving theft or a minor who doesn't know any better and big/small league companies should forgive that.

I'm still waiting for my check to hit my account so I can spend it all on the new box and then sue Redfox for taking advantage of my autism.

RNG is always rigged from the beginning. Usually the rates for getting a perm item is hidden, and often the players are forced to calculate the probability themselves.

People who play those Stacker machines in malls, don't realize the machine is rigged. It's actually an RNG factor once it hits the final line. RNG = Rigged number generator

read it, its not something out of the ordinary. You argument is basically you saying that a casino doesn't ruin lives, its people that ruin their own lives. We're human beings, you might be able to withdraw, but addiction is a real thing. You have to experience it to understand or at-least read about it. Casinos are known for gambling, i've worked with a contractor that makes more money than i do a day, and blows it at casinos. He's aware he has an issue, he's also aware that he's far too gone and cant control it anymore. The purpose of my thread is to raise an awareness before a palyer's far too gone. Im not here to try and change your opinion or your nonchalance towards this calamity, but its good to know that you know the situation for what it is and just dont care, you accept it because its a "business", in that sense we should accept anything that just happens thats wrong simply because it is that way. Im taking my stand by making an oath to stop purchasing boxes for my self and for those that notice the wrong in the practice. The real issue is these box add no real value to the game because the game isn't competitive or marketable anymore...heck it never even was, its just content after content, rehash after rehash. At-least for something like CSGOmakes sense, because you can resell it, you have a chance at redemption, thats in no way me justifying gambling though dont get that confused.

Self discipline isnt common, just as how common sense...isn't exactly common sense. We're human being and clearly understand things differently. I honestly dont expect you to agree to anything im saying, i expect disagreement, if you agreed id think you're crazy, its good to have a different perspective.

Again, i realize where im getting close to falling too deep. You telling me theres people who've spent more than 4k proves my point exactly, if a game exists that you've spent enough to down payment a house...there's clearly a problem here. (thats not to say there arent games worth spending money on..but rumble fighter? you can clearly see the milkage and gambling here)

He didn't say casino does not ruin lives. Read slow next time.

He talk about why children keeping stealing their parent's credit cards for that **** game like Wizard101 and ****.

I remembered i have no idea what credit card value is to my parent.

I keeping using their credit card to my game as i enjoy as i was.

After they find out. they cant recovery the cash that i stolen their credit card. all is they have only two choice is. against me as a fraud. or they have to move on and make new credit card. they make new credit card because they love me and teach me what money value is. but it not work on me. because money is worthless a **** piece of a paper. I can use that money to wipe my ass.

I am sure you have done that before.

My point exactly, are we really in control of our actions? can we really blame a gambler? the typical idea is to maybe get a box and try and get a rare, but the point is that it turns to "man i gotta have that thing" *spends more*, but is that really the person at fault? or have they simply fallen victim to the exact purpose of the practice?

Il ignore the rudeness, kids stealing from their parent is a factor of what the RNG does to its victims... Although the thread is directed to everyone, not just kids who steal from tmheir parent, but kids working minimum wage jobs perhaps 20 hours a week to only find out that they've been caught under the market tactic just to spend 30-60% of their income as soon as they get it. Sometimes even 100% when it could've been spent on something more tangible, now dont get any of this twisted, my thread is in no shape or form a way to bash anyone. It is simply to show concern to victims of the practice. You're a victim as well if you've spent as much as you claim you've spent. I wont try and get personal with you, because quite frankly i dont know you, at the end of the day what you want to do for your self is completely up to you. My belief though is that gambling is beyond self control.

I see you got some point.

    ok. My point is.

Rich people vs Middle people vs Poor people vs People who think money are worthless.

Rich people dont give a **** about money. They can spent as much as they can as they want to.
But children with rich parent can be issued to me. because i hate their shet behavior. and i loathe them. Because they have a bad habit to begging the money for utterly useless things.

Middle people can be budget their money. They can spent as limited as they can.
But children with the middle class parent. Might be better than the rich class children the behavior. They still have bad habit for begging the money.

Poor people can't afford anything they got but they risk their life.
But children with the poor class parent. They have only two path. To join the gangs to risking their life. To get education to having a better life. I love their behavior because they are nice and respected. They never begging the money.

People who think money are worthless, like me. Similar to rich people's doing.
But children with these people. Is extreme issued. They have two path. To be greed. To be not greed. Their behavior is unknown to us.

In America, they don't let the kids getting a job. They required them a high school degree and they have to be an eighteen.

You should check Las Vegas, Nevada. Where is alot of casino in there. Mostly of them are staying 24/7.

How do you think rich people become rich? by spending how ever they want? or by investing? You think rich people became rich by not giving a **** about money? You see their lavish living, but beneath that is none stop work and 4 hours of sleep, multiple business meetings and different investments.
