So yeah, Red Storm is a crazy scroll.

I can confirm that this has NOT been patched as I've been doing this in-game for the past hour or so, ha ha. It really catches some people off guard, leading to easy advances and what not.

Personally, I want to see someone who's better at juggling than me (like Devul or anyone else near that level) find some crazy juggles with this.

I can do Zin Tkd's reset as well.
But the main problem is that I don't have it.

 

Easy reset is going to be patched, probably.

Other than that its a flashier Luchador that players can't handle for the moment, but it has its drawbacks.

When I see that stance, I run away and dt a random person.

 

It's so pretty and I really want it and I've been waiting for combo grabs forever. Too bad it's a broken piece of trash, really. Even without the reset it's got:

1. 2-hit launcher.
2. Omni grab, including a throw distance on its backgrab that puts Muscle Buster to shame.
3. Combo that can't be panicked out of.
4. Combo that ignores collisions. Yeah, you know how normally when you attack at the same time neither player continues with their combo? This **** goes right ahead like nothing happened. Still can't panic out of it.
5. That freaking special grab is a wakeup gamechanger, assuming another scroll didn't do it first. Frames for days, Sage Master range and - oh yeah, it also procs behind the user.

I'm not familiar with scrolls past, say, the Xinyi Liuhe Quan days so I can't say how much of this is Red Storm exclusive and what is power creep, but I constantly wonder which of the devs was drunk enough to think this was a good idea.

 

I do believe Soulless has the same godly I-framed kG. Only difference is the range on the kG and maybe just how long it takes for the kG to actually hit. Red Storm's is also suicidal, as you will more often than not kill yourself if you try to edge with it. I've found that out the hard way. xD

As for point 3 and 4, that's inherent in all grab-hit combos. This is just the first time we've had a -full- grab-hit combo.
For proof, look at Meriken's KKP, Pro Wrestling's KKKK, Cyclones KKKK, Tempest's KKKKK, Voladore's PPPP and KKKKP, Combat Tekkyon's KP, etc. You'll find that all of the mentioned combos can get you out of hit stun, can go down ledges like a skip, eat panics, etc. (Combat Tekkyon especially, since it has the same get-out-of-jail-free mentality towards hit trades.) So really, the flaw is just with how Nimonix has chosen to handle grab-hit combos in general, and the flaw has come to really shine with Red Storm's KPPP.

And for the grabs, at least they only throws people forward. It would be even more broken if either grab threw people behind you.

Still, it is broken, but it is still a really fun scroll. At least the KPPP has a hard time edging by itself. Really, you just gotta watch your HP since this scroll seems to just want to eat your HP instead of toss you off a cliff (omni grab not withstanding).

 

Electro, RedStorm, Mystic Arts all should've been boxed tbh. Especially Mystic <3

 

Thanks for the more complete picture. At least it's not godly in every aspect, then, but as I tend to shy away from edging-heavy maps most of the time it still poses a fairly serious problem. As you put it, a "get-out-of-jail-free" with a guaranteed full combo is pretty ridiculous.

 

I expect it to get nerfed by the next update, honestly. Nimonix seems to have a thing against resets. I expect the KP to get a slightly longer recovery when not followed up by the third P, and the second punch in the PPPP will no doubt get a little more recovery as well. This will probably remove the punch combo's advance unless someone can figure out another one for it, but at least there's still the KPPP advance. (Poor Inferno. Nerfed so hard, it lost its only true advance on top of losing the reset. :<)

Oh, one more thing about the KPPP: The entire combo is basically first-hits. If you go KkG P P KP, then you'll miss the last hit. If done right, however, this leads to a KP advance. Alternatively, there's KkG KPPPV.

All in all, I think they should raise the price on the scroll to 1150 like White Fang's, even after the nerf. It's just that powerful of a scroll, ya know?

Abyss has KPPPK. Avenger has KPKP. I don't know if any other scroll has a KPPP exactly besides Red Storm.
