Someone told me that RF is no longer using P2P connections but I can't find a post backing that up I'm just curious at this point
It's more or less a theory at this point. Since you can no longer use IP sniffers, most of us assumed they switched it to a "Player to Server" based connection. Others believe they just put a VPN on the servers.
Years ago, some people were asking for peer to server instead of peer to peer. I think this happened during ogplanet days. I think one problem may be when someone from New York or Florida has to connect to Playredfox in California, before connecting back to someone in the same town. With peer to peer, a person can connect directly with a neighbor who lives next door on the same street. But now a connection has to travel to the west coast and then back to the east coast. This could be the reason for lag.
i connected with someone from cali just fine but new york was trash so weird idk what the heck they did to the servers
that just means they're testing their own connection with the server, not the server's connection. so like they're playing as someone from new york to see how much they lag @ohFoes
Back in the goold old days (The *** old days as they said in those times), all we had were black screens in guild wars. What is this ddos garbage?
