Note - I realise this has now been (woefully) explained: http://forums.playredfox.com/index....lmost-anything-nda-q-a.213/page-18#post-12198

Explicit introduced inequality within the player community

Expanding upon the issue on the unannounced rise in price for the Young Dragon starter weapons -
    http://forums.playredfox.com/index.php?threads/criticism.731/

During Closed Beta, for the first few hours during Open Beta and currently on the Taiwan official 9 Dragons server, the vendor gold price for the Jade, Black and True Dragon upgrade statues was as illustrated below.

    TW_dragon_upgrades.jpg

The total cost of 92,000 gold was possible to acquire by around Revolving Chakra (~level 36) resulting in a weapon with the damage specifications 800 - 950 before refinement.

After the first unscheduled maintenance / unexpected server crash on the evening of RedFox Open Beta, it was discovered the vendor gold price for the same Jade, Black and True Dragon upgrade statues had increased a multitude to an unobtainable level for new players. Players will generally not acquire 2,200,000 gold until close to level 100.

Yes, Jade, Black and True Dragon upgrade statues are given 'free' as reward during the Road To Dragon quest chain. Therefore either by purchasing in gold or by completing quests, players around level 100 will all have access to the same grade weapon.

The great inequity exists right now between those plays fortunate enough to complete the initial starter Bamboo quest chain quickly shortly after the 6:45 PM opening time and those who perhaps could not, or chose not to try until they had a better chance against the mob of players all trying to defeat Zhang Zhong, Mountain Uprooter.

Those players who acquired the level 3 True Dragon weapon around level 36 in Open Beta now have two explicit advantages over those who did not manage to acquire the weapon upgrade before the first server shutdown.

    1. The True Dragon weapon has damage specifications which are 3 times that of Young Dragon and 2 times that of Jade Dragon weapons. They level faster and they will likely win all PVP encounters against a player without the same advantage.

    2. The early Open Beta batch of successful players are forever a minimum 2.1 million gold gifted over others. In the long run, this amount is nothing, but for the critical early game, it is all we have.

    Questions:

Did RedFox intentionally change the price of Jade, Black and True Dragon upgrade statues hours after launch (opportunistically) as part of the first unscheduled maintenance / server crash or did your developer support make this significant player balance change without the knowledge of RedFox?

If the change was intentional and planned by RedFox, how do you rationalise the explicit player inequality you have deliberately introduced?

There is truly no reasonable answer. The reality is a disgusting display of negligent community mismanagement. The choice made and the resulting inequality is deplorable; appalling.

    Hi Sain, ..
The explanation by JW rep while acceptable and does makes some sense for gameplay, it still is a pretty high price to pay in gold ..
I am concerned this will encourage gold traders to jump into the game again ..
Also, it makes it harder to acquire the weapon for some players while those who already have it before the patch will continue to have a great advantage on boss KS and PVP.

What is JW / RF planning to do about it i wonder.

The fact that the change was made within hours after launch is disgraceful.

If the change was planned, It should have been implemented and set for all players at 6:45 PM on 18 February. If it had been in place and we were all together similarly 'disadvantaged', so be it. That would have been acceptable.

What we got instead was a gross display of ineptitude.

I admire the passion of some of you willing to spend such time writing about a measly 2m gold. The evolution of a new games economy always intrigues me.
