Why did the use of revival items become taboo?

From a person who has used both Assassin and Saver for a considerable amount of time, I can say that Saver is better by a longshot. I still miss the aesthetic appeal from the animation and sound though.

 

I would also like to point out everyone in this thread is terrible. Pros don't complain.

To be frank, The assassin/saver argument is a dead horse and was poorly implemented in the first place. Because when I see saver all I see is another free grab/stun/combo. And when I see assassin all I see are random increments of increased damage.

 

Exactly why assassin is better.

 

Bad player. Clearly doesn't understand what wakeup game and punishment is, and will continue to remain top 200.

Saver for players who want to think in the moment
Assassins for players who have already thought it out

(Wake-Up Definition)
The frames in which a character is considered to be standing up from the floor. In 2D games, the character waking up is generally invincible, as opposed to in 3D games, where characters waking up may still be vulnerable to attack.

As a corollary to this, a wakeup game is the ability for a player to choose how they stand up, or, often in the case of 3D games, whether to do so at all. Options open to the player may include: rolling towards or away from the opponent, attacking, or, in some 3D games, staying on the floor. Because 3D fighters still allow a player waking up to be attacked, wakeup games are considered vital to offset that vulnerability, as a waking character can bait and punish an opponent who thinks they can get an extra hit in while the player is down.

but in this game Saver causes

A situation where one player is continually able to force their opponent to make an unfavorable guess out of a combo or setup, resulting in the opponent getting caught in the same setup all over again

You're not getting the point. Saver gives you a more optimal wakeup game option in many cases, making you receive less damage throughout the duration of the match if utilized correctly. It also has cases where it shouldn't be used and will result in more damage accumulated, therefore destroying the entire purpose of the objective(less damage). Only a bad player has to guess majority of the time when and when not to use Saver.
If you choose Assassin or don't have either of the Rebirth options, you limit yourself to less options and therefore will accumulate more damage than the correct Saver user.

 

Whoever has assassin is bad at the game or is strictly a 1v1er. Saver prevents a lot of edges/saves your teammates. If you have assassin and you think it's better than saver I don't need proof that you're garbage.

I didn't say that I agreed with everything in his post. My entire post was directed toward 1v1 so I obviously think that is what it is better for. Next.

 

No it just means assassin is useful for 1v1 if you wanna get 50% more dmg on 1/15 of your hits. Outside of 1v1.. well you know the rest

Alright time to delve hypothetical within the realm of 1v1 assuming that we both have the no Avalon,same stats/class,both experienced players,but the determining factors here are as follows

1. Saver vs. Assassin
2. Hitman(S) vs. Combat Sambo(A)

I want you tell me at what points during Savers wake up that it has the advantage.
